Description
This is the bolete reminiscent of G. castaneus, but with longitudinally striate, brown, subpruinose stipe, 7.5 cm x 8 mm, white at base, with interior whitish with some pale brownish pink near the base, unchanging. Pileus 4.5 cm broad, dry, convex, tomentose, chestnut brown. Flesh white, unchanging, with mild odor and taste. Hymenophore tubulose; tubes 5 mm long, grayish yellow, unchanging; pores concolorous, not staining when bruised.
