Description
Pileus 3-7 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, subtomentose, brown (7E6) to (6E7-6) developing some olive overtones (5E6-5) with age, frequently with splashes of red especially with age. Flesh pinkish in pileus, up to 15 mm thick, cyanescent and changing from pink to white, with mild odor and taste. Tubes up to 1 cm long, adnexed to depressed around the stipe, bright yellow (2A7) at first, a duller yellow (3A7) with age, cyanescent, with pores <= 1 mm broad, concolorous with tubes, cyanescent. Stipe 7-10 cm long, 10-15 mm broad, subclavate and tapered below broadest portion, dry, glabrous to subpruinose, streaked with red over yellow ground, developing rhubarb red tints toward the base, with white mycelium at base.
