"Comm. F. D. Godman, F. R. S., March, 1890"; "Dupl. at K: 'Sandy soil by the seashore, open places; rarely a little inland, alt. 200 ft. to sea level. June-Aug. 1889. Suffruticose to 4 ft. high. Local and not common. Fruit yellow 2 inches long. Shaped like a reversed pear.' The immature fruit at K has a nipple. Seen 1976. M. Nee, Jan. 8, 1977."
