On sandy decomposed granitic canyon slopes. In pinyon-juniper woodland. With Juniperus osteosperma, Arctostaphylos patula, Garrya flavescens pallida, Ceanothus greggii vestitus, Eriodictyon angustifolius, Cowania, Purshia, etc. Abundant.
