SAPINDUS Linnaeus Quassia trlcarpa Bianco FI. Filip. (1837) 351 (Sp. nov.); ed 2 on« ‘ ed. 8, 2 (1878V 94; 1. 388, pro major. Partl^SAPiNDUS SAPTnARIa' ^Jaaa, f«*t#JSfiCARPA Kadlk. This is undoubtedly the species intended by Blanco, but his description is manifestly based on two different plants.' It was reduced by Fernandez-Villar to Cupama pleuropteris ’ Blume=s Guioa pleuropteris Radik., which is manifestly incorrect, although Blanco's description in part apparently applies to a species of Guioa, and probably Guioa koelreuteria (Blanco) Merr [G per rottetu (Biume) Radik.], Radikofer was certainly correct in reducing the species to Sapindus saponaria Linn., for Blanco’s description and the notes following the description apply to this species. It is widely distributed in the Philippines at low and medium altitudes. Illustrative specimen from Antipolo, Rizal Province, Luzon, November, 1114, there known as tiquis-tiqms (Merrill: Species Blaucoanae No. 183).
