DEPTO. Santa CRUZ, Prov. Vallegrande, valley of small
stream, 2 km NE of confluence with the Rio Mizque in the
PampaNegra area, 25.8 km by gravel road SW from
junction with the Vallegrande-Lagunilla and Moro Moro
road.

Arid valley, heavily grazed, with shrubs and scattered trees
forming a thin cover, with Bougainvillea campanulata,
Ruprechtia triflora.
Tree 12 m. tall, the base of the trunk 1 m. in diameter. Bark
smooth, coppery, peeling off in papery layers; exposed roots
with the same kind of bark. Flowers visited by large black
bumblebee (12:00 noon, cloudy bright). Petals and anthers
bright yellow; filaments orange distally.
