04176854 ASCLEPIAS Linnaeus Asclepias syriaca Blanco FI. Filip. (1837) 204 (siriaca); ed. 2 (1845) 144; ed. 3, 1 (1877) 261, t. 71, non Linn.=ASCLEPIAS CURASSAVICA Linn. This species, originating in tropical America, was introduced into the Philippines at an early date and is now common and widely distributed in the settled areas at low altitudes through- out the Archipelago. It is our only representative of the genus. Illustrative specimen from Batangas Province, Luzon, August/ 1914 {Merrill: Species Blancoanae No. 83).
