Distribution
EUPHORBIA TIRUCALLI Linn.; Blanco FI. Filip. (1837) 4X2 (tiraculli); 6d. 2 (1845) 287; ed. 3, 2 (1878) 167, U 21Q. The Linnean species was correctly interpreted by Blanco. It is locally abundant in some towns in the Philippines and is widely distributed in the Archipelago; certainly a purposely in- troduced plant. In fifteen years residence in the Philippines I have never seen this species in flower, and Blanco notes that he never saw the flowers. It is very generally known by the Spanish name consuelda, or various corruptions or modifications of it such as suerda, consuerda, etc. Illustrative specimen from Mai&bon, Rizal Province, Luzon, September, 1914 (Merrill: Species Blancoa/nae No. 520).
