CRESCENTIA Linnaeus Crescentia trifolia Blanco FI. Filip. (1837) 489 (sp. nov.) ; ed. 2 (1845) 343; ed. 3, 2 (1878) 271, t. J«7'=CRESCENTIA ALATA HBK. This Mexican species was introduced into Guam and into the Philippines by the Spaniards and still persists in cultiva- tion in both, although now very rare in the Philippines. The Philippine species described by Blume, from leaf specimens, as Otophora ? paradoxa Bl. Rumphia 3 (1847) 146 is Crescentia alata HBK.
