Typification: Philippines: Laguna: nr Los Baños, Mt Maquiling, on Miscanthus japonicus, Apr. 1914, C.F. Baker 155 (DAR 46902!; |NY!, specimen on which the invalid L. miscanthi was based). I The Baker 155 duplicate in NY is a mixed collection, with some leaves having another species of Lophodermium similar in ascomatal structure to Lophodermium Group E (BSflW 41). The ascomata are paler and smaller (0-4-0-6 x 0-2 mm) than those of L. miscanthi, with paraphyses slightly swollen and unbranched, asci 80-90 x 8-9 nm, clavate with a broad-truncate apex and ascospores c. 45-50 x 2 urn, coiling on release. A new species is not proposed; additional, more recent collections are needed to describe, this, fungus properly. FUNGI MALAYANA G. F. BAKER Mt.
