  • Description

    Pileus 3-5.5 cm broad, very broadly conic to convex-umbonate becoming plano-convex, dry, tomentose to subtomentose at first, soon becoming areolate-squamulose, dull green (30E-F5) to olive (1E-F5), with some scattered dull yellow showing through toward margin, with appendiculate veil remnants at margin. Flesh white, unchanging, up to 1 cm thick, with unpleasant odor and mild taste. Tubes adnexed to deeply depressed, white at first, then vinacceous pink with maturity, staining brown when bruised, up to 13 mm long, with pores concolorous, staining likewise. Stipe 9-10 cm long, 5-9 mm broad, ±equal to slightly broader below, dry, coarsely alveolate, white with some dull green on ridge edges, staining pale pinkish brown at first, pale greenish with age, with interior white, solid, unchanging. NH4OH: dull brown on pileus.
