Alt. 360.m. Abundant in primary forest along and near a creek forming small clumps. Plants small, up to 5 m tall, usually 1-1.5 m. Culms solid, weak, herbaceous, ca. 1 cm in diameter, leaning over vegetation. Culm leaves persistant, sheath very rough, blade erect, long, narrow, acute; with very little differentiation between sheath and blade. Buds below node breaking through a bract that seems to extend from the base of the sheath. Branch complement 3-5, some- times one main bud develops in a stronger branch. Branches develop in opposite direction to the culm sheath. Leaf complement with many large, broad leaves, blades very thin,and delicate. Cleofé S. Calderón & R. S.
