Alt. 36O.m. Abundant in primary forest along and near a creek forming small clumps. Plants small, up to 5 m tall, usually 1-1.5 | m. Culms solid, weak, herbaceous, ca. 1 cm in diameter, leaning over vegetation. Culm leaves persistant, sheath very rough, blade erect, long, narrow, acute; with very little differentiation between sheath and blade. Buds " | below node breaking through a bract that seems to extend g from the base of the sheath. Branch complement 3-5; some- . times one main bud develops in a stronger branch. Branches -f develop in opposite direction to the culm sheath. Leaf complement with many large, broad leaves, blades very thin,and delicate. Cle<*f6 FI. Calderon & R. S.
