Description
Pileus 3.5-5 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, finely areolate, otherwise subtomentose, dark red (9-10E8) over disc, slightly nearer to red elsewhere. Flesh pale yellow, unchanging, up to 8 mm thick, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnate, yellowish green (4C5), unchanging, with pores concolorous, unchanging, irregular in outline, 1-2 per mm. Stipe curved, 4-6 cm long, 7-10 mm thick, ±equal, dry, pale red and subpruinose at apex, dull yellow with streaks of red to pale brown below, with yellow basal mycelium, with interior pale yellow above, pinkish tan toward base, unchanging.
