Description

Flower and buds of Eschweilera amplexifolia based on Mori & Kallunki 2791 from Santa Rita Ridge, Panama. Note the slightly clasping leaf bases of this species and that the flowers are not as red as in other photographs. Flower color often diminishes from the morning into the later afternoon. Note that the pedicel/hypanthium is sulcate.
