Description
Tree, 20 m. tall, 25 cm. dbh. Bark with shallow, longitudinal fissures. Infl. terminal. Each flower subtended by a floral bract and 2 bracteoles, both at base of pedicel. Bract caducous. Some fruits still on tree, most of those on ground had rotted to a spongey texture. Germinating seeds collected. Buds in fixing solution; leaves and flowers in FAA. Tree just beginning to bloom. Wood sample collected. Flowers with a yellow androphore, hood with streaks of pink.Petals pink, with streaks and dots of yellow and white. Anthers yellow, filaments markedly clavate. Fruits picked from ground. No distinctive sapwood; heart wood. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
