The word "cultivar" is a blend of the words "cultivated" and "variety". Cultivars are plant varieties that were created through human intervention and can keep their unique characteristics when propagated. The names of cultivars can be very beautiful, and sometimes quite strange. They help us find the perfect plants for our gardens and add a little mystery too.
