Truffles are fruiting bodies of Tuber fungi that grow underground. The fungi are ectomycorrhizal, meaning they have a direct relationship with tree roots, and help trees to grow. The black truffle grows with oak and hazelnut trees. It is one of the most expensive edible fungi in the world, with a price of €1000-2000 per kg.
