Description:

Herb. Not abundant here. Spontaneous. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
Habitat:

. "The Lake Island was created in 2007. I think the plants went in Spring 2008. We had covered the island in plastic after cutting down all the phragmites. Then using a bulldozer ripped out all the roots (that part of the lake was drained for restoration at that point); rebuilt the stone outline of the island; added soil mix that Matt Brown and the landscape architects designed; and then planted. The original island, I am not sure how old it was, maybe original to the park. There are old photos of it-- I'm not sure how far back" quote from Regina Alvarez. The canopy of the island now very dense with heterogenous mix of planted (three Taxodium distichum) and spontaneous trees dominated by Morus alba and Ulmus sp (rubra?), the understory very sparse with a few Quercus phellos and Quercus rubra seedlings.
