United States of America. Ohio. Guernsey Co. Bell Cemetery, on broad ridgetop, along "Old 21 Road," 3.3 km SSW of the Plainfield Road junction in North Salem. Alt. 325 m. (1066 ft.)

Description:

A single shrub 2 m tall in fencerow, perhaps spontaneous; none seen planted in cemetery itself. Flowers strongly fragrant (6:30 PM, sunny), visited by a bumblebee. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

The surrounding woods with Sassafras albidum, Prunus serotina and naturalized Ailanthus altissima.
