Description:

Tree 25 m tall, the trunk 90 cm diam; bark grey, scales thick and rough, lifting from their longitudinal edges; fruit collected beneath tree. This is one of two, very large trees on either side of a substantial opening in a substantial, stone wall in what is now dense, shady forest. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
Habitat:

Terrestrial System. Forested Uplands--Beech-maple mesic forest.
