Specimens examined: Mpio. Cozumel, zona arqueol6gica de Mujil, 20 km de Tulum, Cabrera & Cabrera 4302 (MEXU); Mpio. Carrillo Puerto, Chunyaxcho Maya pyramids, 26 km SW de Tulum, 10 m, Chater et al. 210 (BM, MEXU, MO).

Variety fimbriata differs from the typical variety by its fimbriate indusia with whitish, jointed hairs up to 0.5 mm long, more numerous jointed, whitish trichomes 0.3-0.5 mm long on the leaf tissue above, the short-creeping and more compact rhizome.
