Description:

Species Description - Perennial, stoloniferous herb; flowering culms 2-10 dm tall, erect from the base, sparingly branched. Leaf sheaths glabrous; ligule 0.3-1.5 mm long; blades linear to lanceolate, flat, 6-20 x 0.5-1.5 cm, smooth, glabrous or hairy on the upper surface. Inflorescence ovate; primary branches 4-16 cm long; racemes 2, conjugate. Spikelets solitary, elliptic, 1.2-1.8 x 0.8-1.2 mm; upper glume 1.2-1.8 mm long, 2-nerved; lemma of lower floret elliptic, 2-nerved, mucronate, the palea absent; lemma of upper floret elliptic, cartilaginous, smooth to striate, yellow, 1.2-1.8 mm long, muticous.
