Description:
Species Description - Dioecious small tree or shrub, 2-8 m tall; bark grayish, smooth; twigs rusty-tomentose and flattened, becoming glabrous, cylindric and grayish, without spines. Leaves opposite; blades 2.5-12 x 2-7.5 cm, ovate to nearly rounded, chartaceous, glabrous, the apex obtuse to rounded, the base truncate, rounded or nearly cordate, the margins wavy; petioles (0.5-)1-3 cm long. Flowers sessile, clustered in terminal corymbs; the axes puberulent, to 8 cm long; bracts and bracteoles minute, subulate. Staminate perianth narrowly bell-shaped, 2.5-3.5 mm, pubescent without, the stamens exserted; pistillate perianth ca. 2.5 mm long, nearly tubular, puberulent without, pinkish-tinged, constricted just below the apex, 5-toothed, the stigma many-branched, exserted. Anthocarp cylindrical, 8-10 mm long, puberulent, with 5 longitudinal rows of stipitate viscid glands.
