Description:
Species Description - Shrub or small tree 2-8 m tall; bark tan, smooth, thin, peeling off in long irregular flakes; young stems sharply 4-angled, pubescent. Leaf blades 7-14 x 3-6 cm, elliptic, coriaceous, puberulent, obscurely gland-dotted, midvein impressed on upper surface, venation prominent on lower surface, the apex obtuse to rounded, shortly apiculate, the base obtuse, the margins crenate; petioles 4-7 mm long. Flowers solitary in leaf axil; peduncles stout, 2- 2.5 cm long. Hypanthium ellipsoid, 5-6 mm long, pubescent, glandular-roughened, the sepals widely ovate, 6-7 mm long; petals white, oblong, pubescent, reflexed, 12-15 mm long; disk 3.5-4 mm wide; stamens numerous, the filaments 6-7 mm long, glabrous. Berry globose to ovoid, 2-4.5 cm diam., smooth, turning from green to yellow, pinkish inside.
