Description:

Species Description - Monoecious tree, reaching 30 m tall and 45 cm diam.; bark grayish brown and scaly; branches elongate, hanging. Leaves 6- 8 per node, scale-like, lanceolate, with ciliate margins. Staminate inflorescences a spike, 2-3 cm long, with spirally imbricate flowers, the stamens brown; pistillate inflorescence a very short spike 3-5 mm long, with congested flowers at its distal part, the style short, bearing 2 reddish stigmas. Fruit (infructescence) woody, conelike, ellipsoid, 1.5-1.8 cm long, turning from green to brown, with numerous dehiscent, 1-seeded locules. Seeds elliptic, winged, 6-8 mm long.
