Description:
Species Description - Scrambling or twining vine, herbaceous or suffruticose, to 6 m, from woody rootstock, the stems few, rarely branching, sharply 3-angled, villous to tomentose, especially along the angles. Stipules lanceolate to deltoid or widely ovate and oblong-ovate, acute, obtuse or long-acuminate, base truncate or subcordate, persistent, 2-12 mm long, 2-8 mm wide. Petioles stout, angled, villous or tomentose, 0.5-6(-8) cm. Leaflets 3, coriaceous, discolorous, lanceolate, oblong, ovate or ovate-elliptic to obovate, rounded-ovate or rhomboid-ovate, acute to acuminate, or obtuse to rounded, base obtuse to rounded or subcordate, (l-)2-12(-14) cm long, (0.5-)l-7(-9) cm wide, finely or loosely strigose above, gland-dotted, prominently reticulate and villous or tomentose beneath, terminal petiolule 3-30 mm, the laterals subobsolete to 6 mm, stipels setiform to linear, 0.5-5 mm. Inflorescences congested to elongate, 2-25(-30) cm, densely to loosely flowered, less than or exceeding the leaves, rarely branching, peduncle subobsolete to 25 mm, pedicels subobsolete to 4 mm. Bracts lanceolate to ovate, acute to long-acuminate, caducous, 2-7 mm long, 0.5-3 mm wide. Calyx usually exceeding the corolla, villous or villosulose, 8-12 mm, tube 1.5-2.5 mm, lobes narrowly to widely lanceolate, acuminate, 5-11 mm, vexillar sinus 2-3.5 mm. Corolla yellow or yellow with brownish streaks, 6-10 mm. Standard obovate to orbicular, emarginate or apiculate, gland-dotted and puberulous, 6-10 mm long, 4.5-6 mm wide, auricles 0.5-1 mm, claw 1-2 mm. Wings oblong, glabrous or minutely puberulent and gland-dotted, 5.5-9 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, claw 1-2 mm. Keel blades falcate, glabrous or minutely puberulous, 6-10 mm long, 2.5-3 mm wide, claw 1-2.5 mm. Stamens 7-10 mm. Fruits oblong-ovate, compressed, puberulous to glabrate, 1.5-3.2 cm long, 5-11 mm wide, beak 1-2 mm.
