Description:

Herbs; corms large and firmly rooted in mud of standing water; spathes mottled purple/yellow/green outside.
Habitat:

Habitat mostly of deciduous forest with Quercus, Kalmia and Acer on steep slopes surrounded by inhabited clearings, wetlands and roadways in valley bottoms. Acer rubrum flowers fallen and native trees just leafing out at this time.
