Location:

Brazil. Maranhão. Lorêto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region, between the Balsas & Parnaíba Rivers. Ca. 35 km south of Lorêto. Ca. 1 km north of house at "Veados". Alt. 250 - 300 m. (820 - 984 ft.)

Description:

Herb. Corolla light violet (when younger white, with free parts violet). Stigma violet, style with white hairs. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

open tabuleiro along trail that evidently had been previously cut out of a transition zone between "caatinga" forest on lower slope of a brook valley & "tabuleiro" woodland on upper part of slope. Very stony brown loam.
