Description:
Perrenial herb, suberect or declining and prostrate. Stem green, crooked, spiny, rebranched all along from near base, 1 foot to 1 yard in length. Leaves nearly flat, somewhat recurved, membranous, a trifle paler beneath; pedicels ascending, bearing a solitary subpendant flower; calyx green, corolla bluish white, anthers bright yellow; fruit short ellipsoid, 1/2 inch long, well surrounded by the much enlarged calyx which bear sharp black spines along their ridges or median lines; greenish white. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
