Description:

Population of many shrubs, 1.5 m. tall. Flowers with thick sweet fragrance; corolla blue-purple when opening, fading to nearly white, the same color sequence as in the S. crinitum group; anthers yellow, slightly curved. Fruit green, immature, on deflexed pedicels, these very swollen distally. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
Habitat:

Very flat, clay soil, mostly fields of rice, with brushy strips between with remnants of former evergreen forest. In unshaded, partially marshy, or at least seasonally inundated area.
