Habitat:

Low terrace ("baixo") with poorly drained soils, occasionally flooded by heavy rains or overflowing streams, understory relatively open, composed mostly of ferns, canopy somewhat open and consisting of relatively few trees and more numerous trunked palms, some lianas.
