Location:

Brazil. São Paulo. Mogi Guaçú Mun. "Campos das Sete Lagôas". Fazenda Campininha, just north of Rio Moji-Guaçu. 10km NNE of Padua Sales. (About 27km NW of city of Moji-Mirim.) Near fire tower. Alt. 650 m. (2133 ft.)

Description:

Plant 2: shrub 2m tall, trunk at base 15cm diam. Fls. purple, anthers golden-yellow. Frt. to 10cm diam. Phenology of specimen: Fruit, Fertile.
Habitat:

General vegetation: campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams. This habitat: cut-over & burned campo cerrado, ground ploughed for planting of Pinus. Ground vegetation returning, grasses, herbs, & small shrubs. Soil poor, reddish-brown fine sand with a little clay.
Feature Notes:

(from plant 2). Plant 1: shrub 1½m. tall, petals purple, anthers light yellow. Frt. green with light beige tomentum, globular, 10 cm. diam.
