Brazil. Acre. Xapuri Mun. Road from Xapuri to Rio Branco, Fazenda entrance at km 14, then 1 km to back of old field and disturbed primary rainforest at margin of igarapé, probably varzea, submerged during part of the year.

Description:

terrestrial herb. Large, single-leafed perennial, 1-1.3 m tall from tuber, 6-12 cm underground. Petiole skin mottled green, white and brown, like a snakeskin. Textured with small raised areas. Plant petiole 0.3-1.5 cm in diameter, hollow 15-10 cm above and to bulb, aerenchymous, no basal leaf sheath.
Habitat:

Old field and disturbed primary rainforest at margin of igarapé, proably varzea- submerged part of the year.
