Description:

Herb, spadices with flowers in full bloom, the leaves just beginning to appear. Spathes variable in color, some entirely purple, others with various amounts of yellow. Male tepals green, female tepals purple, entire spadix protogynous, filaments white, stigma white, yellow pollen accumulates on inside of lower part of spathe. Perianth uniseriate. Tepals 4, fleshy, purple at apex, imbricate, tightly pressed against ovary, the ovary superior. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

Swamp dominated by skunk cabbage at this time of year.
