Boundary of Quaternary basalt and Shinarump formation (sandstone); dry mesic woodland community; plant cover 20%, rock cover 10%; soil reddish tan, silty, with cinder pebbles, volcanic in origin, of low organic content; slope 10°E; associated dominants: Pinus cembroides, Juniperus osteosperma, Gutierrezia sarothrae, Chrysothamnus nauseosus. Abundant, pure stands.
