Georeferencing Method: Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012 (Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Rio de Contas in Mun. Itacaré, Bahia, taking into account the added uncertainty of the word "near" in the locality description. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate Rio de Contas, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the mouth of the river, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Because of the difficulty in determining the nearest named place to the mouth of the river, followed the "Near a Feature" method of the Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the mouth (777.97 m), then doubled this (200% of the linear extent). Input coordinates, linear extent (1555.94 m), and measurement error (10 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing, Near a Feature).)
Coordinate Uncertainty(m): 1567.51
