In open scrub. Small hill of loose pumice soil in dry sagebrush scrub. With Artemisia tridentata, Purshia tridentata, Cercocarpus ledifolius, Chrysothamnus viscidiflorus. Leeward (east-facing) slopes slightly more mesic. Occasional.
