Description:

Understory tree, 3 m tall. Very branched. 3 to 7 flowers per inflorescence, but only to 3 flowers opening at a time. Flowerbuds with corolla apex lanceolate in outline. Corolla tube 5-7 mm; corolla lobes white-tomentose at the inner base. Calyx gamosepalous, light-green. Flowers fragant during day and night, producing nectar at night. Leaves widely obtuse at apex, the new leaves produced at the same time with the flowers. With many ants. This is the same species than Cornejo & Aguilar 8038 (with immature fruits). Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

Coastal wet forests. Sympatric and flowering at the same time with: Posoqueria latifolia, Tocoyena pittieri and Genipa sp. Frequent.
