Description:

Herb 8-10" tall. Root at least 2" long. Hairy stem, lies close to ground. Leaves 1 - 1 ¼" long. Flower pale yellow radially symmetrical, 5 petals, throat blackish maroon, center orange disk ½" tall with 5 white stamens, many pointed calyx. Flower 2" wide. Measurements from fresh plant.
Habitat:

Soil rocky, arid. Exposure sun. On shoulder of road, half-way down the canyon.
