Description:

Shrub, 1.75 m tall. Leaves alternate, obovate; petiole reddish. Flowers solitary, terminal; corolla pubescent at opening into corolla tube inside. Flowers ca. 25 cm long x 10 cm diameter; calyx green, winged; corolla chalice-like for upper 1/2 , constricted into tube for lower 1/2; the corolla cream-colored at noctural anthesis, turning yellow next day, the constricted part of the tube always green, the inside of tube with maroon lines. Cultivated.
