Acrostichum tartareum Cav., Descr. 242. 1802.
Hemionitis dealbata Willd., Hort. Berol. 1(2): 40, t. 40. 1805. Type. Not stated, but based on a cultivated plant in the garden at Berlin. The name is not superfluous, as indicated by Tryon (Contr. Gray Herb. 185: 65. 1962), for only later did Willdenow (Sp. PI. ed. 4, 5: 131. 1810) identify his plant with Acrostichum tartareum of Cavanilles, incorrectly (by our modern rules) retaining his own, later epithet.
Type. Near Guamantanga, Peru, Nee (MA not seen; isotype P not seen photo by Tryon US).
