Description:

Distribution and Ecology - A rather widespread species common to Trinidad, the Guianas, and, according to Kostermans, the Amazon Basin; and currently reported from Venezuela.VENEZUELA. Delta Amacuro: between Rio Amacuro and mouth of Dead-water Creek Moat (Agua Muerto), Sierra Imataca, Julian A. Steyermark 87396 (y.fr. NY) .

Type. Trinidad. St. Ann’s, July, Cruger 59 (holotype, fl. GOET, not seen; K).

Another species belonging in subg. Euaniba sect. Microporanthera, A. trinitatis is distinguished by alternate, usually obovate-elliptic leaves, chartaceous becoming coriaceous, glabrous throughout, the apex shortly acuminate, the acumen obtuse and broad, the subterminal panicles more or less pyramidal, rather slender, becoming more robust in the fruiting stage.
