Description:

Species Description - Large caespitose epiphytes with prominent, globose, ribbed pseudobulbs, these to 7 cm, subtended by paired, deciduous, foliaceous bracts. Leaves 2 per pseudobulb, apical, plicate, lanceolate, acute, thin, strongly veined and ridged abaxially, to 50 X 9 cm. Inflorescences multiple scapes from base of pseudobulb. Flowers large, showy, variable in color, generally with greenish-brown sepals and white petals and lip; sepals subequal, elliptic, obtuse, spreading, forming an isosceles triangle, 4.2 X 2 cm; petals ovate, obtuse, enclosing lip and column, with reflexed apices, 3.4 X 1.9 cm; lip 3-lobed, cuneate, 3.6 X 1.8 cm, the lateral lobes obliquely triangular, erect, the midlobe suborbicular with erose margin, reflexed, the callus central, blunt; column as long as lateral lobes of lip, with prominent foot persistent in fruit.
