Description:
Genus Description - Decumbent or creeping perennial herbs. Flowers bisexual or pistillate, actinomorphic, sessile in paired cymes in the axils of leaves or bracts, along terminal, racemiform and paniculiform inflorescences; sepals 2-3, free; petals free, white or pink to blue, often inconspicuous; stamens 6 or fewer, sometimes 3 or 1, the filaments glabrous or bearded, the anthers with a wide, foliaceous connective; ovary sessile, oblong, 2-3-locular, nearly trigonous to compressed, with 1 or 2 ovules per locule, the style elongate, the stigma enlarged, sometimes penicillate. Fruit a membranous 2-3-valvate capsule.
