Description:

Species Description - Rhizome scales to 4 cm long, 1 mm wide; stipe to 100 cm long, ½ the frond length, base somewhat scaly; blade 100-200 cm long, 50-100 cm wide; pinnae 25-55 cm long, 6-12 cm wide, abruptly acuminate, base cordate-clasping, glabrous, lamina bright-green, succulent, papery and fragile on drying; indusia 15-30(-40) mm long, 0.5-0.8 mm wide, entire.

Amér., t. 106. 1705, illustrating a plant from either Martinique or Hispaniola.
