Description:
Species Description - Rhizome long-creeping, climbing; rhizome scales bicolorous, linear-lanceolate, reddish-brown, with narrow black center stripe, 7-12 mm long, 0.1-0.5 mm wide, falciform teeth (0.1 mm long or less) directed both acroscopically and basiscopically; fronds dimorphic, distant; stipe 1/5-1/3 the frond length, glabrous, bicolorous, stramineous to brown on upper side, 4-22 cm long; sterile blade 55-100 cm long, (17-)22-27 cm wide, pinnatisect (entire to lobed in juvenile forms), abruptly reduced at base to several pairs of auricles, apex becoming entire, with long caudate tip (aristate), basal and median pinnae distant (4-25 mm apart); rachis bicolorous to concolorous, usually dark; sterile pinnae adnate, slightly falcate with long caudate apices, the bases decurrent and surcurrent, abaxially glabrous, adaxially glabrous with heavily grooved and elevated stramineous midrib, distinct from lamina; fertile pinnae (8-12 cm long, 1-2 mm wide) shorter than sterile ((10-) 12-15 cm long, 1.2-1.5 cm wide); veins distinct, simple or once-forked, nearly perpendicular to costa, with enlarged vein endings visible abaxially; pinna margins entire, often recurved; indusia 1 mm wide, entire.
