Inflorescences lateral on very short strongly compressed scapes, ellipsoid, acute, simple, about 12-flowered, mostly dark castaneous; outer bracts broadly triangular-ovate, with narrow pale margins, dull or sublustrous, obscurely pale-lepidote, serrate toward apex with spines 1 mm long. Floral bracts inconspicuous, hidden at anthesis; flowers subsessile. Sepals lanceolate, terminally mucronate, 20 mm long, carinulate, glabrous, dark castaneous at apex, elsewhere pale green, sparsely lepidote; petals bright lavender (! Camp), the blades elliptic ca 15 mm long; stamens included.
