Georeferencing Method: Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012 (From the locality description alone it is difficult to determine from where and in what direction the offset of 25 km is being measured. From analyzing previous collections made earlier in the day by this collector (namely NY Catalogue Record: 453965) it became clear that measurement is most likely to be starting near the highway exit to the town of Imbituva from 373, since earlier collections were made further west of Imbituva on 373, and the Rio Tibagi is located to the Northeast of Imbituva on 373. A town called Caetano Mendes was found almost 70 km due North of Imbituva, to which a highway route could be constructed from Imbituva (N on 373, then NW on 376) which passes close to the Rio Tibagi at exactly 25 km along 373 from the highway exit to Imbituva. Given all those findings, georeferenced to 25 km along road 373 from the highway exit to Imbituva towards the Rio Tibagi, in Mun. Ipiranga, Parana. Using Google Maps - Text Search & Satellite View, located the town of Imbituva, the course of the Rio Tibagi, and the road 373. Beginning at the highway exit to the town of Imbituva from 373 (-25.180916, -50.596685), used Google Maps – Measure Distance tool to measure approximately 25 km (25.0000 km) along road 373 towards the Rio Tibagi. Using Google Maps – What's Here tool, found coordinates for a point just alongside the road adjacent to the offset. Calculated linear extent for the starting location of the offset , the intersection at the highway exit to the town of Imbituva from 373, using a standard rule to calculate the linear extent of intersections (4 m x # of lanes of larger of the two intersecting roads). Input linear extent (0.016 km), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), distance precision (1 km), datum (WGS84), and measurement error (0.0005 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.)
