Ecuador. Los Ríos. Near Río Palenque Biological Station, between river and Pan Am Highway to Santo Domingo de Los Colorados, 54 km N of Quevedo (halfway between Quevedo and Santo Domingo). Alt. 180 - 220 m. (591 - 722 ft.)

Description:

Sterile 3-6 dm annual (?) vine.
Habitat:

In full sun where trees were felled along paths. Locally last remnant (ca 100 hectares) of virgin, mature, wet tropical rain forest on Pacific slope of Andes. Canopy ca 40-50 m. Now in "dry" season (drizzle every day). On slopes and ridges. Many palms in understory, Moraceae dominant.
